Whats in my Hospital Bag!

I'm making a list and I've been checking it twice! As a first time mum I have carefully researched what to pack for the 'Big Day'! Thankfully I have two sisters to guide me in the right direction but none the less I wanted to make sure I didn't forget anything or pack too much.

I have come across lots of lists like these but as I live in Ireland the hospital bag requirements can certainly vary compared to other countries!

I'm 37 weeks now which is officially full term so the bag is packed and ready to grab at any given moment.
I have divided my hospital bag into Labour bag, maternity bag and baby bag.

My maternity and labour bag is as follows.

  • Maternity notes (I haven't done a birth plan yet..it will probably read DRUGS, DRUGS AND DRUGS!)
  • nighties for labour (I have two)
  • Two pairs of dark pyjamas (I bought mine in Penneys)
  • Socks
  • Toiletries (face wipes, shampoo, etc)
  • Hairdryer, brushes etc
  • Breast pads
  • Nursing bras
  • Maternity pads  (Boots brand)
  • Disposable knickers and Dark Knickers (I have both)
  • Light dressing gown/spare nightwear
  • Slippers
  • Flip-flops (For shower)
  • Dark coloured towels (Bought mine in Penneys)
  • Camera
  • Change for parking facilities/payphone
  • Light snacks, magazines etc
  • Hair ties/accessories
  • Comfortable clothes to go home in (which fit you at 26 weeks pregnant)
  • Mobile phone charger
  • Biro and notebook
  • A bag in a bag! We will guarantee to come home with more than we went in with
  • Laundry bag - To bring used soiled items home in

I have my baby outfits separated into zipper bags, labelled Outfit 1, Outfit 2 and Baby grows etc and I prewashed all the clothes with non-bio baby washing powder. I have a mix of newborn and 0-3 months sizes.
